Internship Purpose

Technical Performance Engineer – Summer Internship (3 months)


You will be based within the Analysis and Optimisation (AOS) team, reporting to a Senior Engineer. The AOS team’s Technical Performance Engineers and Data Analysts provide data analysis expertise to the Asset Management and Operation & Maintenance teams, with the aim of maximising generation and profit for the asset owners and RES by ensuring the efficient operation of power plants.

You will be analysing operational data of wind turbine, solar farm and/or storage assets and contributing to our service delivery continuous improvement projects with support from other AOS team members.

This position is offered as a 3-month summer internship, or as a 1-year placement for exceptional applicants.


Key Accountabilities

The projects will involve collating and categorising data relating to component failures from wind, solar and storage assets with a focus on using engineering and data analysis skills to record and contextualise historical case studies in a standardised way.


Knowledge


Skills


  • Fundamentals of renewable energy technologies (wind turbines, solar PV, battery storage)
  • Fundamentals of electrical and/or mechanical engineering


  • Data analytics, handling large volumes of data, graphing and trending data
  • Investigative nature – naturally inquisitive, proactive, solution focussed and has sense of ownership on work
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective discussion and transfer of information between areas of the business, site teams, contractors and clients
  • Strong reporting and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft 365 packages
  • Competency in Python, MS-SQL, APIs and Git (desirable)

Qualifications


  • Personal projects (large or small)
  • Previous Industry experience would be beneficial
  • Previous experience working within a team would be beneficial (University team projects or otherwise)
  • Experience in data analytics


  • Studying an Engineering or Physics degree
