Job description
Reporting to the Commercial Director you will be a Technical Designer in the Design Team.
As Technical Designer you will provide comprehensive technical design services to Norwich Aluminium and Norwich Aluminium clients. You will possess excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence; you may be liaising with suppliers, customers as well as communicating with other internal departments. You will also have strong attention to detail and be methodical in your approach while working within a high paced design and manufacturing environment. Fenestration designs are to be compliant and fit for purpose, with an emphasis on value engineering.
Detailed Task List:
· Check Design Planner regularly for new projects listed under your name.
· Check Design Planner numbers 1~6 to familiarise yourself with basic project details.
· Liaise directly with Sales & Estimating when requiring clarity on any quotations.
· Liaise directly with Surveyor when requiring clarity on Surveys.
· Produce RFI for the customer in support of the technical design. Include any specific codes and standards that may affect the final design.
· Attend and contribute to client and internal project pre-start meetings as required.
· Liaise directly with the client on potential issues or changes & provide a technical solution.
· Provide Pre-Survey CADS as required to the Norwich Aluminium surveyor.
· Produce & check CADS against specifications and issue to the client. Amend as necessary to reach a successful solution to the final design.
· Proactively engage with clients to attain a quick approval of CADS so that the process can move to Procurement and Production.
· Enter all design parameters into Norwich Aluminium software Genesis and / or ReynaPro and produce updated CAD drawings for the Factory as per Norwich Aluminium direction.
· Identify and liaise with Head of Design & Manufacture to manage any VO on the project during design.
· Create standard Purchasing Pack. Proactively liaise with Project Resource Schedular on Material & Glass orders as required.
· Create Standard Factory Pack. Proactively liaise with the Factory & Dispatch Manager on Machining & Fabrication questions as required.
· Liaise with the Project Manager on installation queries as required.
· Work to identify creative solutions that will enhance Norwich Aluminium design and installation to the client.
Salary dependent on experience.
