Purpose of the Role NatWest Boxed (NW Boxed) is building the future of banking. They are on a mission to build the leading BaaS provider in the UK, underpinned by innovative technology and backed by NatWest's reach and strong balance sheet. They're not looking for just anyone. NW Boxed have a few teams setup already in the ledger and cards area. Now they are building a team for a major greenfield programme of work within the Lending space. The work kicks off on the 1st of August and your role as a Technical Architect will be the first external hire into the team. You will play a central role in defining what this greenfield programme looks like. Responsibilties of the role: As part of the Architecture function, you will collaborate with the Product, Engineering, Operations, Security and Risk functions to deliver robust, lending solutions that operate within regulatory requirements while meeting risk appetites. You'll be part of a team building our lending capability within our agile FinTech organisation. You will advise and support product owners. You'll work with the wider architectural community to develop and share common architectural principles, patterns and designs by being able to articulate and understand why they are important as well as being flexible as new information becomes available. Use an evidence-based approach to architectural decisions by working with the engineers to produce observable solutions and understand what they are telling us. Demonstrate and communicate clearly when exceptions to standard approaches are needed. Produce Architectural documentation using standard tools and working with the wider community to improve those tools. What makes you a great fit: Essential criteria: Strong understanding of the lending domain, including operational Accounting, Credit Risk Management, Liquidity Management, and Financial Statement Reporting (e.g. balance sheet reporting). Proven experience architecting lending capabilities with a financial organisation. Able to take on loosely-defined problem statements and break them down into tractable challenges that you can solve. Experience of collaborating in a diverse community and the architecture chapter. Able to constructively disagree, compromise and synthesise the best possible solution from multiple viewpoints and inputs. Desirable criteria: Knowledge of UML and C4 modelling. Knowledge of Microservice patterns including Event Sourcing patterns, Cloud Architecture and Domain Driven Design. Be able to communicate complicated concepts and collaborate in a remote-first environment effectively with various teams including Platform Engineering, Security, Privacy, and Risk. Knowledge of specific technologies and products such as PlantUML, Java, Docker, Github (desirable). Next steps: This client will only accept workers operating via an Umbrella/PAYE engagement model.
