Summary
The University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts is hiring a Systems Administrator to join a diverse team of professionals dedicated to successful advancement of educational and research activities. You will work with the Infrastructure team to create and support servers and provide other infrastructure services to Technology Services teams, college faculty and staff. This job offers hybrid work opportunities. We run a variety of platforms and technologies to support the needs of the College so this is a great opportunity to get some experience with a mix of technologies. You will report to the Infrastructure Manager in LSA Technology Services. The target salary range for this position is $64,000-$69,000.
What You'll Do
Production Support: Provide technical support and service restoration for infrastructure services provided by LSA Technology Services. The primary focus of this support will be project based server support. The project work could include but is not limited to replacing or upgrading servers reaching their end of life, participating in the migration and process review of our monitoring system, server software updates, and SSL certification automation. In addition you will analyze, plan, and implement system maintenance, including backup and recovery strategies, software patches and upgrades.
Proactive Administration: Collaborate with teams and advise on technical features and processing options. Contribute to system enhancements by identifying and quantifying customer requirements, delineating the gaps between customer requirements and the capabilities of existing technology. Recommend improvements in current processes.
Professional Development: Stay current with relevant advances in IT. This could include: on-the-job training, attending technical courses or conferences, researching, and testing. Develop and follow best practices and share knowledge.

Required Qualifications*
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Linux or Windows Systems Administrator, with demonstrated knowledge to use appropriate technology tools to perform day-to-day administration tasks (such as backup, restore, failover, log interpretation and performance monitoring) for servers
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with a virtualization platform like VMWare or Hyper-V
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot difficult issues and ability to apply problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement and automation
- Familiarity with security and monitoring best practices
Work Schedule

Most of our team works 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Our team does not typically work late, work weekends, or have to come in early. Your work will be predictable and adjustable.
