Sustainability Officer – Graduate Placement/Internship
We are pleased to be able to offer the role of Sustainability officer based within our friendly team at Tweed Valley Maltings, our Head Office, for Simpsons Malt Ltd.
We are looking for an individual with an agricultural background or a deep passion for sustainability who would join the Sustainability Team at Simpsons Malt.
The successful candidate will get the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of malt, the malting process, the raw materials supply chain and the implications of delivering our customers’ sustainability requirements. As the Sustainability Officer, the successful candidate will develop their teamwork skills to work collaboratively with other teams to deliver our Sustainability Strategy and our collective ambition. They will be required to work closely alongside the MSP agronomy and sales teams to provide technical advice to contracted wheat and barley growers, whilst supporting them to gain SAI Platforms FSA accreditation and complete Cool Farm Tool carbon assessments for all purchased grain. They will also be required to support the Sales and Grain teams in terms of customer and supplier technical queries. This role will be a mixture of based on-farm, office based and some home working.
The Sustainability Team is a relatively new team for Simpsons Malt so the ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively, be willing to learn, be proactive and show good initiative. Strong teamwork, organisational and time management skills are also required as collaboration between suppliers, end users and other Simpsons teams will form a key part of the day-to-day.
This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Key tasks:
- Farm Sustainability Assessment Delivery and managing improvement plans
- Cool Farm Tool Sustainability Assessments
- Agreed Sustainability improvement projects
- Being able to field customer and supplier queries

This is an exciting new role for Simpsons Malt and needs someone who is as completely comfortable in dealing with farmers as they are data-inputting and analysing assessment results.
