Supported Accommodation Officer, Grade 7 (£33,351-£34,341)
12 month Secondment/Fixed Term Contract
The Role:
Supported accommodation is a growing sector in Croydon, we as an authority are looking to review all current housing benefit claims for residents living in this type of accommodation in the borough to ensure that the quality of the care and support being provided by the landlord is of a good standard. As well as ensuring the council are getting value for money for the service being paid for through Housing Benefit.
We are setting up a multi-disciplinary team for a year to carry out these reviews. The successful candidate will be working alongside team members with Housing standards expertise and housing benefit officers to ensure a full and comprehensive review of all the residents and properties in the borough living in supported accommodation.
The role will involve being out in the borough and visiting residents in supported accommodation, assessing their level of need and reviewing the level of support being provided by their landlord. It will involve working alongside landlords to ensure an agreed standard of support is being provided as well as reviewing how they are working with their residents to move them on to more long terms secure accommodation.
A part of the role will be working closely with the housing benefit officers in the team to review new benefit claims and advise on the needs of potential residents.
This is a new team with new roles and so there is an opportunity for everyone who is part of the team to work on developing the process to ensure the success of the project.
The position is a year’s contract.
The Person:
We are looking for someone with experience of working within a Supported accommodation setting and working with service providers and residents.
The successful candidate will have previous experience and understanding of good practice in relation to housing related support services
They will be able to manage their work load and complete reports detailing findings, action plans and outcomes.
