We are looking for a Support Worker to join our Supported Living Service based in Rackheath on a permanent and full time basis (37.5 hours a week). Shifts will be spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings and sleep ins, weekends and bank holidays. You will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £60.00 for any sleep in shifts carried out. The payment for sleep ins is non-contractual.

You will need to have a full driving licence and access to a car for work would be an advantage.

About our Service

You will be supporting two ladies and a gentleman with learning disabilities, helping them in their daily lives and supporting them to achieve their goals. Their all love to go out and about, especially to the coast and to the city, and having meals or drinks out. Activities they like include going trampolining, bowling, funfairs, going round the shops, meeting friends, and going to car shows and museums. They also enjoy chilling at home, watching films and playing games on the Wii. You may also sometimes be asked to support three independent young ladies who live in one of our services in Norwich, or be asked to cover shifts at our other services.

You will be required to work a variety of shifts on a rota basis, which includes weekends and bank holidays. The shifts vary from early to late (usually ranging from 7am to 10pm), and include sleep ins (sleep ins are when you stay the night at the service and sleep in the staff room)..

What does a Support Worker do?

As a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will help to ensure the people we support live a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life. You will have excellent communication skills and be a naturally caring and patient personality. Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
  • Excellent communication skills and Relationship building – supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
  • Community & Social Inclusion - supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
  • Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day. This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom. Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.
