Job description
The role
The Sport, Exercise and Health Division are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to co-ordinate the administration for the division’s commercial programmes and support the overall administration requirements across all programmes, services and Business Development areas of responsibility.
The main areas of work include:
- Programme administration and support
- Project and University wide-led events administration and support
- Communication and promotion of initiatives, and programmes
- Facilities and finance administration
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the income generation for the division through the provision of an excellent experience for our customers and community. There is a particular focus on service excellence, alongside our strategic priorities (outlined below):
Sport, Exercise and Health strategic priorities:
- Increase student participation levels, driven by a focus on student health, wellbeing and student satisfaction. This will be achieved through an offer which is fair and equitable.
- Facilitate students gaining employability skills through sports leadership, volunteering, officiating, coaching, and administrative opportunities, and experiences.
- Develop an inspirational and inclusive student-led community, which allows sports clubs and talented athletes to reach their potential. This will be achieved in an environment which is built on pride, partnership, ambition, and trust.
- Contribute to the health and wellbeing of staff by providing access to healthy activities.
- Maximise commercial opportunities in a manner that creates significant opportunities for student development and/or provides an income that can be re-invested in the experience.
What will you be doing?
This role will be responsible for providing administrative support primarily to our commercial programmes, including the University of Bristol Swim School and Hockey Talent Academy. The Hockey Talent Academy is launching in September 2023 so there will be an opportunity to support the implementation of this exciting project, including supporting the launch and development of the administration support for this programme. With significant interactions with our customers, the role will support current users across all of our programmes and services from our University and the wider Bristol communities. They will require independence and initiative, working under minimum supervision to enable the effective delivery of our programmes and services and be the first point of escalation for customer issues support.
This role will also require the successful candidate to be able to cover administration tasks across all areas of the division when required, which includes:
- Sports memberships sales and customer support
- Bristol Moves project
- B:Active programme
- Front of House liaison
- Divisionwide administration support (e.g. UG Open Days)
You should apply if
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software, e-mail and web, and general office systems to include web content management systems, social media platforms and general office systems.
- Able to manage information electronically through databases and spreadsheets.
- Experience of working in a busy, diverse and demanding environment, able to prioritise and under pressure at times to produce accurate work to deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to take ownership of problems and find solutions and build relationships and interact effectively at all levels and with a wide range of internal and external contacts.
- Experience of working in Higher Education or a sport/ physical activity environment
- Experience of working on multiple projects and tasks and supervising other colleagues to achieve desired outcome
