SUPPORT WORKER
Merseyside Area
Part-time - initially working one day per week on a Wednesday for 8 hours, with the opportunity to increase hours as the role develops.
This post would suit anyone looking for a small amount of hours to fit around other work/family/study commitments. It would be suitable for a young, outgoing and proactive person with an interest in supporting and empowering those in the community to live their best lives as independently as possible.
Salary: £11.00 per hour weekdays, £11.50 per hour weekends, double time bank holidays
An exciting opportunity has arisen to support a young 17 year old girl with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and autism. This is a new role and you will be assisting to develop this role along with the client, her family and other members of her multidisciplinary team.
Your Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual to support our client to develop her skills and interests both at home and in the community. You will follow her rehabilitation programme and work closely with the Occupational Therapist and other members of the MDT to ensure that the client is well supported and enabled to achieve her goals and increase her independence. Training and supervision will be provided.

You will:
- Accompany the client to her chosen activities such as the cinema, horse riding, the zoo and eating out (expenses for activities will be paid)
- Assist the client to shop for ingredients, prepare and cook food and tidy up
- Motivate and encourage participation in a range of recreational pursuits chosen by the client
- Support the client to engage and increase her independence in activities of daily living
- Follow the therapy programmes as agreed with the professionals involved
- Log any accidents/incidents, keep medication records and daily activities records
- Travel with, act as a driver, or take responsibility for the client when travelling, ensuring that safety is a priority when accompanying the client on each outing
- Be comfortable to push the client in her manual wheelchair as and when necessary
- Any other appropriate and reasonable task in relation to the employment as agreed with the client, the client’s family and Case Manager
Person Specification:
- Essential -
- Patience, enthusiasm, maturity and professionalism along with valuing honesty and discretion are essential for this position
- You must be friendly, proactive, inspiring and encouraging
- Reliable car and full U.K. Drivers Licence
- You must have a degree of flexibility to suit the client and family’s needs
- Desirable -
- Experience of working with young adults with a brain injury, cerebral palsy, epilepsy or autism is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
- Experience of working with clients one to one in their own homes and in the community
- Able to work within a busy family environment whilst maintaining focus on the tasks with the client
HOURS: The shifts initially include 1 day per week on a Wednesday with the opportunity to increase these hours to include a weekend day as the role develops.
PAY: £11.00 per hour weekdays, £11.50 per hour weekends and double time on bank holidays.
