Job description

We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to join the lab of Prof Ilan Davis to apply computational methods in order to analyse large imaging datasets. This post will involve working as part of a team with lab members and collaborators in order to better understand already acquired data and using this information to make predictions of future targets for further research.
You will hold a degree in a relevant scientific field and be a skilled programmer, with strong ability in Python or R and a track-record of applying those skills to bioinformatic and AI projects. Experience in managing large imaging datasets and a knowledge of neuroscience is essential to this post, as are strong mathematical skills. As this post necessitates working with other lab members and collaborators, a track record of working with others successfully is required. Only researchers with a record of research publication in peer-reviewed journals will be considered for this role, and any microscopy experience would be a definite advantage.
This full-time fixed term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust until 1st December 2023 in the first instance and is based at the Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford.
This position is graded on the University’s Grade 6 scale, for which the salary range is £30,502 – 36,386 per annum pro rata. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
To apply for this role and for further details including the job description and selection criteria, please see the document below. You will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your application.
The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 17th March 2023, with interviews for shortlisted candidates to be held as soon as possible thereafter.
Committed to equality and valuing diversity.
