Role Overview
Evaluate and assure supplier produced Aero-Engine parts are delivered by commitment dates. Ensure Delivery issues and Corrective Improvements are implemented. This Hybrid position requires multiple aspects of Supply chain management, procurement, manufacturing and quality assurance along with the ability to travel. This role will allow the successful candidate to take a lead role in the management and delivery of products within our customers supply chain to meet demand.
Responsibilities:
- Supply Chain Management and Production Planning support of various OEM sites and their suppliers located in the UK & Europe
- Build, mentor and monitor Supplier Performance Leader team ensuring robust visit schedules and delivery plans are in place
- Manage team budget in-line with agreed PO values
- Six Sigma Management
- Lean Management
- Communicate persistently, pleasantly, clearly, and consistently via all communication means
- Ensure strict adherence to tight deadlines, must be comfortable escalating with senior management when required
- Detailed “Request to Fulfilment” Value Chain Assessments
- Monitor Production Flow through Build Review
- Perform Supplier (Readiness) Assessment Audits and Identify and track Critical Issues to closure
- Review Systemic Issues from Assessments and Correlate to Baseline RCCAs
- Deep Dive implementation and improvement planning
- Support and deliver Kaizen events
- Create Control Plans, Checkpoints & Monitor Performance
- Develop with Project Manager work instructions to implement best practices / lessons learned and ensure repeatability
Secondary Job Functions:
- Support QuEST’s Project/Team Leaders and Program Mangers regarding execution and closure of statements of work or projects
- Deputise for Team Leader in their absence
- Provide support to the Program Manager/ Team Leader in training and providing technical assistance to the wider Delivery Assurance team
- Develop/Enhance work instructions to implement best practices / lessons learned and ensure repeatability of tasks
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles and problem-solving skills and techniques such as 5S – Visual Factory/BOM/ A3/PDCA/VSM/SMED/TPM/Cell Design/Kaizen.
- Six Sigma methodologies, tools, terms
- Understanding of manufacturing processes i.e. Forging / Casting / Assembly / Machining / Special Processes.
- Involvement with Process Planning and Production Readiness reviews.
- Familiarity with Operating/Work Instructions and Control Plans.
- Planning / Raw material / Inventory / tool/ buffer stocks / Purchasing /procurement.
- Experience with quality systems and industry standards compliance
- Knowledge of part qualification requirements (including PPAP/FAI/RCCA processes)
- Understanding proper Measurement/Inspection tool use and requirements
- Experience in a Supply Chain Management aspects / Production Planning / Quality / Operations.
- Familiarity with Operating / Work Instructions and Control Plans.
- History of Customer facing.
- Knowledge of material packaging, handling, shipping and distribution.
- Experience of structured problem solving methodology: Lean / ACE, lead change/improvement activity / DMAIC / 6 Sigma etc
- Formal auditing qualification.
- Some aerospace product knowledge.
- Ability to read/interpret drawings including understanding of GD&T and critical characteristics (KPCs).
- Experience in a using SAP or similar ERP system.
- Management qualification
- Ability to persuade and influence without authority
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience is desired.
- 5+ years working experience in manufacturing working as manufacturing engineer, industrial engineer, or quality engineer applying Lean manufacturing and problem-solving tools with a continued proven track record
