Job Description


The satellite industry is going through unprecedented changes as new entrants and technological advances fundamentally transform the market. To stay at the forefront of this fast-changing landscape, the Strategy and Growth Programmes team leads the charge for Global Government in developing and executing strategies and plans that keep Inmarsat competitive in our markets today and into the future.

The strategy manager will work with the senior strategy manager to define the annual and long-term business strategies, monitor the business units’ strategy execution, and identify, and assess new strategic growth opportunities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the development of long-term strategies and annual business plans.
  • Support the alignment of departmental goals, processes, and resource allocation with the Business Unit strategy.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis to assess market trends, customers’ priorities and competitor dynamics, to identify new market opportunities and support the strategy development process.
  • Monitoring and regular reporting on strategy execution and business performance against key priorities and annual plans.
  • Facilitate the publication of regular performance reports and identify areas of improvement through cross-functional reviews.
  • Identify threats and strategic risks, asses their impact on the business, and make recommendations on how to mitigate them.
  • Review and assess strategic market watch reports to publish and disseminate Insights about strategic changes related to competitors, customers, and technologies as well as new market opportunities and threats.
  • Support the development of investment business cases in new growth areas, including but not limited to quantitative opportunity assessments (TAMs and SAMs), SWOT analysis, competitor and customer requirements assessment.
  • Any other tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be required.

Qualifications


Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • An acute understanding of a broad range of strategic models and analysis techniques.
  • Exceptionally good analytical skills with an ability to translate raw information into actionable insight.
  • Must be capable of research and analysis from both primary and secondary sources and able to deliver competitive analysis, opportunity analysis, market sizing and customers insight analysis.
  • A sound understanding of financial models and business forecasts backed up with proficiency in the use of MS Excel and Tableau to deliver both visually and verbally engaging analysis reports.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to deliver compelling written and/or oral presentations.
  • Can work autonomously and as part of a team to perform analysis and conduct strategy performance reviews.
  • Planning and project management skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong attention to detail, have a positive can-do attitude and be result-driven.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, mathematics, or Finance.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role.

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in the satellite communications, telecom, or IT industry at a business development or strategic level.
  • Advanced degree integral to market analysis and business development.
