Crozier Fine Arts is an operating division of Iron Mountain, and a key component of the company’s overall growth strategy. The business offers storage, logistics and related services to museums, galleries, collectors and other customers in the global fine arts market. Iron Mountain first entered the market with the acquisition of Crozier in New York, and has since expanded to key markets in the US, to London, Zurich and Paris in Europe, and to Hong Kong through a combination of M&A and organic expansion. We now have the mandate to triple the size of business, expanding to new geographies in Europe and Asia, as well as expanding its portfolio of products and services, with $250M in growth capital.
The Growth Office within the GLEAM division is seeking a Strategy Analyst, based in either London or Paris, to play a vital role in achieving this aggressive goal. This role will lead and support a variety of strategy projects, all focused on growth, expansion and value creation for the division.
The role will have a significant degree of autonomy to both manage competing priorities and align resources appropriately. As such, the individual is expected to develop in-depth knowledge of the business through spending time with both the managers that oversee functions and regions, as well as staff in the field who serve clients and deliver services.
Specifically, the Analyst will be responsible for the following:
- Competitive Research
- Build and maintain a comprehensive dataset of competitors, their locations, capabilities and estimates of revenue
- Research on specific competitive targets globally
- Evaluating potential acquisition candidates, and prioritizing those candidates for business development efforts
- Aggregate information and data from multiple sources and groups within the business, including Sales, Product Development and local operations
- Growth Strategy
- Develop comprehensive view of global geographic markets, including both quantitative and qualitative analysis of market attractiveness
- Develop comprehensive businesses cases justifying the investment in entering new markets
- Summarize analysis and recommendations, and communicate those recommendations persuasively to senior management to drive decisions
- Source ideas for new products or services
- Conduct primary and secondary research to support new product development, including analysis of existing or potential market size, customer requirements, competitive dynamics
- M&A and Business Development
- Summarize and interpret market research to inform M&A decisions to identify optimal new markets for expansion, and prioritize potential targets within those markets
- Support due diligence on new deals and integration planning
- Identify opportunities for future transactions or partnerships
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- >5 years of work experience required, preferably in a strategy consulting or financial analysis, with exposure to multiple industries
- Interest or experience in the world of visual fine arts
- Proven ability to manage ambiguity, and work independently with senior management
- Experience in early-stage companies is a plus
- Undergraduate degree required, MBA is a plus
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Solid understanding of financial metrics and analyzing business operating performance
- Experience building and understanding financial models
- Experience analyzing and evaluating growth markets, new products or early-stage ventures
- Strong analytical ability, but willingness to move forward with an 80% conclusion
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and collaborate across departments
- A “can do” attitude, with a history of proven ability to network and influence across the organization at all levels
