Basic Function
General Summary: We seek a technical and results-oriented civil engineer who has strong communication skills, shows initiative, shows high personal standards, strives for innovation and wants to grow and develop in a creative team environment. This opportunity exists within the Global Projects organization that executes major capital projects for LyondellBasell at its manufacturing locations across the world.
To be eligible for this role, you must be working towards your civil engineering degree or an equivalent degree and must also be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the Fall semester.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Review of engineering drawings and documents for compliance with industry and LYB standards.
- Provide support in 3D model reviews and constructability review meetings.
- Review engineering calculations submitted by the EPCm contractor.
- Provide construction support for active Global Projects, such as reviewing and approving concrete mix designs, inspecting structural steel erection, verification of installation with engineered drawings, etc.
Provide Civil Engineering support to LYB sites and assets, including:
- Assist with damage assessments and scoping of repair work.
- Perform engineering calculations and designs to support site maintenance efforts.
- Assess assets at sites (pipe racks, dike walls, ponds, walking surfaces, etc.), provide a damage assessment report, and scope repair work as required.
- Further developing standard calculations.
- Building an engineering library and database.
- Creating a geotechnical study library of all sites globally.
- Creating standard drawings in AutoCAD.
- Work with concrete companies and steel fabricators on modularization and pre-assembly initiations within LyondellBasell.
- Provide support with LYB Carbon Reduction efforts as it pertains to Civil Engineering.
- Work with estimating groups to develop MTO’s and TIC estimates.
- Work with scheduling group to develop project schedules.
- Review documents issued by other engineering disciplines.
- Assist/shadow a project manager and engineering manager to gain understanding of their role and responsibility.
- Assist/shadow a construction manager to understand installation and construction of other engineering disciplines.
Min. Qualifications
- Minimum Education Requirements: must be working towards a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent degree from an accredited university.
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or greater.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status.
