PART TIME SOUND ENGINEER / CARETAKER

About us

Esher Theatre is a unique brick built venue with a large stage, a seating capacity of 200, an elegant layout of changing rooms, a variety of bathrooms, a well-stocked bar and an outside garden.

Now in our second full year, Esher Theatre is established as a popular venue offering a mix of musical, theatrical and once-in-a-lifetime events. We are currently planning a second, larger local venue to add to our portfolio.

About the role

To caretake, sound engineer and ensure the smooth running of a Christian church service held every Sunday throughout the year.

The church team layout the tables, chairs, staging and meet and greet their congregation and guests themselves, but require a Technician / Theatre Manager to support them.

About you

You will be a calm, responsible caretaker, capable of working without supervision helping to ensure a unique and enjoyable experience for every visitor, every time.

You will Sound Engineer the service and provide any additional tech support for other sessions eg Bible reading outside of the service itself, as required.

The post will be every Sunday 9-5pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the building is opened by 9am and locked at 5pm each Sunday.
  • Ensuring the Box Office, Auditorium and Changing Room lights and heating are on, ready in good time for the church team to set up.
  • Overseeing the set up of furniture and staging (by the client) to ensure all runs to plan
  • Provide full technical support (sound and lighting) for the Church Service (11am-2pm) using pre-sets put in place in advance by our Chief LX.
  • Ensuring all furniture and staging are returned to the storage cupboards before the client departs the building.
  • Liaising with general management to provide a report each Sunday.

The candidate :

  • This job would ideally suit a Christian but is open to those of all faiths and none.
  • Previous sound engineer experience.
  • Able to work efficiently and offer 100% reliability.
  • Able to adapt and change priorities according to the needs of the event.
  • Able to support the client whilst working independently.
  • Willing to undertake sole charge of the building whilst on duty.

Job Type: Freelance

Salary: £80.00-£100.00 per day
