We have an exciting opportunity to join this fast-paced postproduction team as a Sound Editor, responsible for delivering edited audio projects on time and to the highest industry standards.
The Opportunity
Reporting into our Senior Sound Editor, you will play a lead role delivering high-quality and innovative audiobooks across Penguin Random House.
Day to day, you can expect to be:
Spending most of your time carefully and efficiently crafting our audio content to the highest standards
Taken dozens of audiobooks per year from raw audio to finished product – content will include anything from single voice crime thrillers to children’s picture book adaptations.
Cleaning and fine-tuning audio to create the perfect listening experience
Throughout the production process, participating in a culture of good communication with producers and proofers, as well as actively sharing feedback on recordings.
Providing editing support to other teams around the business, for instance editing and mixing marketing assets for broadcast or streaming.
What you’ll bring
We’d love to hear from you if you are skilled in audio production and have a keen interest in books and literature. We don’t need you to have worked for a publisher before or have even worked on audiobooks, but you will need to:
Have between 1-3 years’ experience in sound engineering whether that be for podcasts, radio or TV. You’ll need to be well versed in speech editing in particular.Have experience using audio editing software such as Pro Tools, Izotope RX or similar.
Have exceptional organizational skills, a strong ability to prioritise work, and a track record of turning around audio content to strict deadlines
Be able to communicate with stakeholders from around the business in a professional and clear way
Have high attention to detail and a meticulous approach to your work
Bring a positive attitude to work and be solutions focused, providing a calm and swift service for the business

Salary: Between £28,500 - £32,700 depending on how your skills and experience align with the role, plus bonus and benefits
