With more than 10,000 Full Time Undergraduate and Postgraduate students on campus, we continue to drive innovation and change, aiming to positively disrupt our sector. For our University, it is about so much more than the numbers. In fact, if there’s one thing that sets us apart, it’s our people who are all #ProudToBeStaffs. Every one of our employees goes above and beyond to deliver on our connected mission, responding to the needs of our students, academic partners, businesses and society.
Over the past 5 years, we have transformed ourselves into a Gold standard provider of teaching and learning, gaining historically high positions in the UK league tables. About the role
Staffordshire University has embarked on an ambitious and unique transformation in the Higher Education sector where we strive to become the UK’s leading Digital University.
To help deliver this, we need to build new capability to support our Digital Vision and we are now expanding our core skills with a new Solutions Analyst role. If you’re ready to make a difference to our Higher Education environment, be ambitious, brilliant and innovative, we think our Solutions Analyst role with Staffordshire University is the way forward. Working within the Digital Solutions team you will be directly involved in building our Digital Vision as well as growing your own skills, knowledge and experience.
We've already been busy changing our environment at pace, embracing an agile mentality, Cloud based services for our infrastructure and looking to innovate for our students and staff with next generation technologies like Artificial Intelligence.
You will be responsible for supporting the use and operation of applications within an assigned portfolio, including individual application functionality, configuration and operation, and its associated technical operating environment (including, but not limited to file systems, databases, interfaces, integrations, OS, and delivery platform). Possessing SQL skills is essential.
The range of activities undertaken will cover reactive support, problem management, planned maintenance, and small changes. The role will also contribute to business change projects as assigned and will involve working within assigned project teams supporting the delivery of digital business change.
On a day to day basis you’ll provide correct responses to requests for support by means of for example: making system modifications, developing work-arounds or site-specific enhancements, reconfiguring systems, changing operating procedures, training users or operations staff, producing additional documentation, or escalating requests to systems development staff or software suppliers; ensuring all work is carried out and documented in accordance with required standards, methods and procedures.
We are keen to hear from customer focused, self-motivated, well organised IT/digital professionals with a passion for future state technologies, an understanding and experience of the deployment and management of cloud-based solutions and/or Virtualised environments and a track record of application support and solution development and project delivery within a digitally literate and demanding customer base operating in rapidly changing complex customer centric project environment.
Any familiarity you have with Higher Education and related management systems (such as Tribal SITS Student Records System) would be a bonus but in truth we're more interested in meeting innovators - enthusiastic, creative and engaging people.
We think this is a great opportunity, but only for the right person – don't expect to have the world mapped out for you because we're creating things as we go. You’ll need a strong work ethic, real commitment, a mindset that's built around agility and a desire to make a difference. Are you ready to be a top performer? In terms of application criteria, we’d ideally like to see a good relevant first degree, but equally we’d also like to hear from people who may have equivalent working experience or qualifications.
Please upload your CV together with a covering letter setting out why we should consider you as our new Solutions Analyst – how do you meet our criteria and what is it that sets you apart? Apply now for immediate consideration.
