An opportunity has arisen to support our Parks, Leisure and Libraries Services work.
Parks, Leisure and Library Services deliver a range of services, with the aim of making Sheffield a place where people choose to live, work, visit and invest. We work with a range of partner organisations to deliver Sheffield's sporting, physical activity, parks & countryside, events, libraries and archive services and facilities. We also look after bereaved families through our Bereavement Services and work with the South Yorkshire West Senior Coroner to provide the medico legal centre (public mortuary) and coroner’s court.
Working closely with the Director, Head of Service, Management team and wider staff team, the successful candidate will play a critical role in developing and supporting our wide range of customer services and leading on coordinating the service area business plans, with particular focus on customer service and back-office service delivery.
The post holder will receive support and direction from the Director and Heads of Service but is expected to operate with a level of self-sufficiency and autonomy. The successful candidate will need to have experience of working in a busy business management / support function and be confident working with senior leaders both inside and outside of the council.

It is essential that the successful candidate has a flexible and resourceful approach, is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and has the drive and aptitude to acquire new skills quickly. Previous experience of working with external partners and/or elected members would be advantageous but is not essential.
Additional information
This post is advertised as full-time, however there is scope for flexibility if the successful candidate wishes to work fewer hours. We would require a minimum of 28 hours per week, to be worked over at least 4 days. There is flexibility about working days.
We work in a hybrid way and our office base is currently Union St, Sheffield City Centre, Sheffield S1 2SH. The successful candidate can work from any of our local offices as well as from home and this can be discussed and agreed on appointment.
