YouGov are expanding their Survey Systems team, due to huge growth and the recent hires of numerous Software Engineers, we require an experienced Engineering Manager to join the team.
You’ll be responsible for growing the team of engineers, directing and evaluating work, and improving the accompanying processes and culture.

What will I be doing?
- Working closely with the teams of developers and product managers to ensure the best solutions by applying the best process and tools
- Being responsible for ensuring that the product vision is realised through excellence in execution
- Develop and communicate the roadmap, scope and risks of your projects, and lead the delivery of major initiatives on clear timelines
- Support the engineering team in formulating the technical strategy needed to further increase platform performance
- Advocate on behalf of your team to keep them unblocked at all times and get them the resources they need
- Communicating effectively with senior management as well as with colleagues from different teams
- Holding regular 1:1s with team members
- Empowering, leading, and inspiring the team
- Help with hiring, on-boarding, training and mentoring engineers
- Document, preserve and improve the development culture

What do I need to bring with me?
- 3+ years experience managing a team of software engineers developing a SaaS product
- Backend development background in Python
- Have expert knowledge of modern web technologies and deep knowledge of the software development process to deliver timely high-quality software
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Ability to mentor geographically distributed team members with different skill sets from your own
- Being keen to drive things forward instead of just managing
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Proven experience with applying agile software engineering practices to create high-performing teams
- Passion about creating a healthy culture for individual growth, have interests in inclusion and belonging efforts and a high regard for championing positive mental health practices
Expectations

Additional Information
This is a full time, 100% remote role, which can be based in any worldwide YouGov Office, or country that we have a legal entity. We are a global team of remote first developers on US east coast and European hours. Our only requirement time-wise is to attend an online daily meeting to report on your assignments.
