Our client is a leading UK driverless vehicle and mobility company expanding internationally and on a mission to find the very best people to be part of our success and join the driverless revolution that will disrupt and transform the world of transport. Due to year on year growth they are recruiting an experienced Path & Motion Planning Engineer for it's Autonomous Vehicles R&D Team.
Roles:
- Leading with other seniors in the design, implementation and testing of different control algorithms including but not limited to optimal control methods, MPC and LQR methods, optimization-based methods, system modelling, state-space representation, and linear/nonlinear control
- Get into the vehicle and test current/new features
- Contribute to the control software architecture
- Implement robust and highly readable C++ code
- Communicate with other teams across the autonomous stack to integrate the developed algorithms
- Mentor other engineers
- High-level code documentation
Essential requirements:
- MSc or PhD (preferred) degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Mathematics or related filed
- 3+ years of experience in robotics and controls
- 3+ years of C++ software development (Python is a bonus)
- Experience working with Non-linear/linear optimal-control (MPC, LQR) and optimisation techniques (Interior-point, Gradient Descent, Lagrange Multipliers, Newton Raphson method, etc.)
- Experience with different Non-linear/linear optimisation methods Experience using ROS1&2 or any other middleware/frameworks
- Experience in autonomous vehicles or mobile robots
Nice to have requirements:
- Experience working on decision-making methods for controlling robots
- Experience working with Docker containers
- Experience with safety-critical software design
- Experience working in system modelling (system dynamics)
- Experience working in simulation environments
- Experience working with CAN bus protocol/communications
- Experience working with drive-by-wire (DBW) systems
