Software Engineer with TSQL skills
This is a demand-driven part-time opportunity for an experienced developer to work from home on systems and projects for a small number of existing customers. Some of these have quite complex TSQL queries. It could become a full-time job developing barcode and RFID systems in industry for other customers.

Codeway provides products and systems for labelling, scanning and mobile computing in industry. Our customised applications exploit automated labelling, barcode and RFID technologies.
We develop mission critical mobile computer software for large companies and growing SMEs. These order fulfilment and material control applications include SQL and TSQL databases which exchange data with ERP and business management systems.
Established in 1983, Codeway employs 24 people. Our offices are in
Colchester. Our small software team currently based in Colchester and Stockton on Tees has now adopted a remote home office working model. This arrangement is facilitated by monthly and ad hoc Teams meetings with sales and management.
The Job
This opportunity, the result of a sudden illness, is for a software engineer versed in SQL and TSQL to provide continuity of support and development for a small number of customers.
In the right hands the focus will shift rapidly from support to development. This will be for extensions to handle a customer’s requests that go beyond the scope of its system.
We see support and extension development for these customers as a part time role, with demand dependent on the extent of the extensions.
Extra work will become available on projects for other customers, preparation of proposals for new customers and ensuing projects.
You will be responsible to your customers for delivery on time and budget as well as the performance of their systems, and you may need to visit them on occasion.
Experience
Ideally, you will have years of experience in:
- Systems for manufacturing, distribution and service industries
- .NET development and maintenance (C#, VB.NET)
- TSQL and SQL Server databases.
- Complex queries and optimising performance.
- Data exchange and business system integration (e.g. Oracle).
- Problem solving and trouble shooting.
- Working with users as well as experts.
