Joining our newly formed Digital Technology team, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the design, development, deployment and maintenance of microservices-based software solutions that power our online and in-store customer experiences. As the Microservices Development Manager, you will lead a team of talented developers and drive the successful delivery of software projects.
The role will be critical to the success of Wickes business as we embark on a 5 year transformation journey. Transforming the digital technology and infrastructure to support multiple channels is central to the success of Wickes.
The Role:
- Ability to define and implement scalable and robust microservices architecture strategy aligned with the Wickes goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and architects, to design and develop microservices-based software solutions that enhance the DIY retailer's digital presence and customer experience.
- With excellent leadership qualities, you will lead and mentor a team of offshore developers, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with project managers and stakeholders to define project scope, requirements, and timelines for software development initiatives.
- Managing the end-to-end delivery of microservices-based projects, you will ensure that they are completed and ready for production, meeting the required quality standards.
Does this sound like you?
- Strong experience in software development, with a focus on microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Proven project management skills to be able to plan, organise and manage project risks and issues. Experience with agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, is beneficial.
- In-depth knowledge of microservices architecture principles, and proficient in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
- Experience with cloud platforms, AWS, Azure, GCP and containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes.
- A critical thinker, strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
- You’ll have great interpersonal skills and an ability to build strong relationships at all levels and be able to influence the direction of the web platform.
