Our engineers have a wealth of experience and expertise designing, industrialising and delivering cutting-edge technology. Innovation and problem solving are OC Robotics’ key strength. OC Robotics has developed snake arm robots for a wide range of applications and sectors. These include inspection, remote handling, cutting and cleaning.

About the role
OC Robotics is a small team with a mixture of mechanical, software and electronic engineers and operational employees in Filton, Bristol, UK. This is a great opportunity to work within a small multi-disciplinary engineering team within the Aerospace sector. Our Software team is highly collaborative and work on a daily basis with our mechanical and electronic teams to solve complex engineering problems. As a Lead Software Engineer you will play a crucial part in the development of our in-house software and in leading some of our projects to completion. You will be providing technical leadership to project team members and designing and developing innovative solutions to meet the product needs, regularly working with hardware. You will communicate with project leads and project management about project status and contribute to reporting.
About you
- You have significant experience working in an agile software team.
- You have experience supporting/mentoring junior team members.
- You have experience of leading significant areas of a software development effort
- You have extensive experience of software development using modern languages (preferably C++/Python)
- Excellent knowledge of the C++ standard including STL and some libraries (e.g. boost)
- You have experience of mixed-mode programming e.g. C++/python integration.
- You have experience of using machine learning tools (e.g. tensorflow, pytorch).
- You have a good understanding of ML (e.g. Neural Networks)
Main role responsibilities
- Lead AI integration into inspection tools
- Develop reusable architecture to support future technologies
- Ensure robust, secure and fault-tolerant AI and software is developed
- Accelerate software development for project delivery
- Lead scaling of tool AI across all products
Some additional desirable characteristics
- You have hands-on experience of software QA strategies (e.g. CI, CD, TDD, BDD)
- You have experience using testing frameworks including gtest, gmock cxxtest , jest, junit, pytest etc.
- You have experience of working in a high-tech engineering company
