Band 8A (£53,513 - £57,767 per annum pro rata)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for this post in the Virus Laboratory of the Department of Medical Microbiology at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. This post is suitable for enthusiastic individuals who would like to gain more experience in the diagnosis and management of infection. This department is UKAS accredited and provides a comprehensive diagnostic virology service to NHS Grampian, NHS Orkney and NHS Shetland.
This post has a special focus on developing HBV/HDV PCR local testing service. The post holder is expected to conduct and complete the required verification and evaluation work related to this project, including all required report writing and paperwork. This project is expected to be completed before the end of the 10 months duration of the post.
You will be working with two Virology Consultants and will get opportunity to participate in the virology clinical duty, clinical liaison and validation as suitable. You will be a key team member in the general work of the Virus Laboratory. There is scope for developing the diagnostic service, especially the Molecular section, and specialist expertise in this area will be especially welcome.
