Salary: £18,965 based on 35 hours per week

The British Red Cross is looking for a dynamic Shop Assistant to join our friendly charity shop team in Hull. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your retail skills whilst contributing to our cause of helping people in the local community, across the UK, and abroad.
Helping people in crisis begins at your local charity shop.
Full of pre-loved clothing, accessories, gifts, and more, our 300 shops across the UK are home to over 6,500 volunteers and 700 paid staff. We’re one big team that loves meeting people from all walks of life.
A day in the life of a Shop Assistant will involve:
Working closely with the shop manager, shop staff and volunteers, and other retail teams, to support customers and donors, as well as ensuring targets and objectives are successfully met. You will help present an excellent image of the British Red Cross, providing a brilliant experience and shopping environment for our customers.
Working on the shop floor, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, operate the till, and create eye-catching displays. Behind the scenes, you will be responsible for sorting stock and preparing items for display.

To be a successful Shop Assistant, you’ll need:
- Previous experience of working in a retail environment and be confident with cash handling duties
- To be a strong communicator who thrives on delivering excellent customer service and enjoys meeting lots of different people
- To be commercially savvy, understanding the importance of hitting targets
- To understand and anticipate each customer's needs and delight them with the service provided
