Shift Operations Manager
Location: Nottingham, NG90 2PR
Salary: Up to £45k per annum including Shift Allowance
Grade: TBA
Shift Pattern: Double Days – 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm – some night shift cover if required.

We now have an exciting new opportunity for a Shift Operations Manager to join our team. The role is based at our UK facilities in Beeston, Nottingham.
Job Purpose
Reporting into the Business Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of an operational shift, whilst effectively driving the requirements for SQDCP (Safety, Quality, Delivery. Cost, People).
You will deliver a safe and positive working environment in compliance with site targets.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
- Responsible for a workforce of typically between 50 to 150 colleagues, including temporary staff, within a manufacturing and/or packing operational area, providing effective communication, development and leadership.
- This includes the performance management of direct reports such as Team Leaders and influencing the day to day performance of engineers, planning and quality.
- To drive the delivery of agreed productivity targets which deliver the required cost per unit targets for cost of goods and wastage
- To promote a can do attitude and lead by example, developing self-managed and motivated teams with the capability to drive their own performance standards. This includes performance managing Team Leaders to be the best they can be and influencing the performance on a day to day basis of quality, planning and engineering resource.
- To engender a positive culture of safety and deliver the agreed CSR targets across the factory
- To take the lead role in developing a positive employee relations environment, building positive and constructive relationships with the recognised trade unions.
- To ensure quality conformance at all times of product and GMP status to agreed standards, including hygiene
- Drive sustainable continual improvement activity to the agreed budgetary levels and deliver through the teams a positive pro-active approach at all times.
- To lead customer and regulatory audits for the factory, owning any resulting action plans.
- To drive and maintain operational standards ensuring delivery of day to day tasks.
Qualification and Experience
- Demonstrable experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment in a leading role.
- High impact and influencing skills across teams and functions
- Demonstrable experience as a leader, skilled at inspiring and driving performance through others.
- Ability to build positive working relationships at all levels
- Strong coaching and people development skills
- Effective team player, whilst having capability to lead from the front
- Ability to influence upwards and across diverse functions
- Understanding of finance and cost management
- Ability to combine day to day tasks with longer term thinking
