Our client is a third sector organisation who's mission is to alleviate the detrimental impact of poverty, with a focus on fuel poverty.
Since launch in 2004, they have provided consistent, financial help for vulnerable households and remain one of the largest, grant giving energy Trusts in the UK – over £130m has been invested to help over 500,000 people manage their household budgets & energy costs.

They are now looking for a well organised and pro-active individual to take on the role of Service Assistant, who will help them achieve organisational objectives by delivering high-level support to the Head of Services.
Main Responsibilities
- Weekly monitoring of financial assistance payments made to our beneficiaries, via a range of stakeholders.
- Ensuring spending amounts are staying within budget allocations.
- Answering queries from our stakeholders.
- Managing the main inbox and responding appropriately as necessary.
- Oversight of our main direct grants through our main stakeholder.
- Assisting the Head of Services to ensure the grants are managed efficiently and within budget through our external grant management contractor.
- Reviewing reports and understanding complex data for year-end reporting, quarterly reporting and monthly reporting.
- Occasional absence cover for the Head of Services
- Occasional travel across the UK.
General Responsibilities

- Evidence excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely
- A close eye to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ensure the services are delivered in a trustworthy manner keeping sensitive information confidential.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and be able to manage the challenges of working remotely.

- To attend team and other meetings as required.
- To undertake duties proactively and work in accordance with Trust policies, aims and objectives.

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will:
- Have strong an enquiring mind and an aptitude for data analysis
- Call centre environment experience for a helpline
- Understand charity processes and policies around grant regulations and continually look for process improvement
- Flexible in approach to your work, especially at key times of the year (launch of new grants and end of year financial reporting)
- Be a highly organised individual able to manage multiple and sometimes competing demands and priorities and meet deadlines often under pressure. With the ability to understand and anticipate the needs of the department and our stakeholders, to ensure appropriate outcomes.
- Have methodical approach, with good attention to detail whilst able to see the bigger picture
- Have a proactive approach, hands-on when the need arises
- Be available to attend meetings and some events outside of normal office hours
- Have excellent Microsoft suite skills including Outlook, 365 and advanced Excel skills
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills, a confident communicator (both verbal and written and includes producing reports), adept at building effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
