There is an opportunity to join a great team in beautiful Cornwall. The RCHT Colorectal unit has been fully laparoscopic for close to a decade, early adopters of LOREC ELAPE, TaTME, with integrated laparoscopic theatres. We are a dynamic team, good interpersonal aspects to working here, early adopters and evidence based.
The colorectal group of eight carry sub-specialist interests. Two deliver pouch services, two perform ELAPE, three deliver TEO procedures, two have pelvic floor training and all contribute to IBD and cancer. The specialty manages 450 new cancers a year with nearly over 300 major resections. The successful candidate should bring complementary skills to the department to develop sustainable provision across the areas.
The Trust owns three sites with Gastrointestinal Surgery and Endoscopy taking place in Truro (Treliske) and Penzance (West Cornwall Hospital). The Trust has a full vascular service as well as 24 / 7 Interventional Radiology; Medical Gastroenterology provide on call Endoscopy service with weekend Inpatient Endoscopy lists.

We are a busy acute hospital and the surgical service that runs a commitment free on call with a second Consultant delivering acute operating in the mornings. We are exploring options for further expansion to support modernising the emergency service.
As well as adult services the hospital delivers general paediatric surgery and candidates with general paediatric training would be especially welcome.
