We are seeking a Senior Training and Behaviour Advisor to take responsibilty for supporting Training and Behaviour staff at Dogs Trust centres in the South East Region by aiding the TBAs to devise and providing rehabilitation programs for the dogs in these centres as well as supporting and educating centres staff.

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and normally cares for around 14,000 dogs across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy and will never put a healthy dog to sleep.

Our rehoming centres house thousands of dogs each year until they are able to find a loving new home and the success of our centres wouldn't be possible without our dedicated team of staff and volunteers; there is a real family-community within each of our centres. Come rain or shine, our team are out in all weathers to make sure the dogs have the best possible life. Dealing with thousands of visitors each month our rehoming centres are the face of Dogs Trust and we pride ourselves on our staff providing the very best in customer service.

In this role you will make regular visits to your allocated centres in order to provide behaviour and training advice to the staff and to help the Training and Behaviour Teams to devise and implement programs for the dogs. You will also help to provide training to all staff at the centres.

The successful individual must have a behaviour qualification and have experience in implementing training and behaviour programs within a rehabilitation setting. Experience of working withing a rehoming centre environment is advantageous. You should have a thorough knowledge of dog behaviour and welfare, including understanding the principles underlying learning and the ability to write training and behaviour programs. You'll have excellent communication skills with the ability to handle delicate situations sensitively and professionally and have the ability to and experience in handling difficult dogs. But above all you'll be passionate and committed to the work of Dogs Trust. A full manual driving licence is essential.
