We specialise in supporting adults with complex needs, profound and multiple learning disabilities, and behaviours that challenge.

Horninglow Bungalows is a supported living service, for up to sixteen adults. The service is dynamic and caters for people with varying levels of need. The team support people to live an ordinary life which includes independent living skills and maintaining community connections

We have a vacancy for someone to join our team working 13.75 hours a week / 55 hours over a four-week rota. The role works shifts between 9pm to 8am, including weekend and bank holiday working. This role is a waking night role, where you will be expected to remain awake and alert on duty.

We require our team to work flexibly as rotas are subject to change depending on business need.

Although this role is based primarily at Horninglow Bungalows, Burton, there may be times when you are expected to work flexibly across Provider Services, including different care settings, delivery approaches, and locations, as required.

Main Responsibilities

In this role you'll:

  • manage a team of Support Facilitators, including rotas
  • be responsible for resolving problems and ensure the smooth running of the service, as the most senior person on duty
  • deliver excellent person-centred support
  • oversee medication whilst on shift and administer as required
  • support people to maintain their health and wellbeing
  • contribute to the on-going assessment, development, delivery, and review of person-centered support plans.
  • suggest improvements and be proactive in the development of solutions, and activities undertaken by the service

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for people who are passionate about providing outstanding care quality for adults with learning disabilities.

What you will bring:

  • be enthusiastic about working with people with learning disabilities and /or autism
  • be caring, sensitive and patient while supporting people to be as independent as possible.
  • able to manage and support staff whilst actively engaged in care and support activities
  • have good communication and interpersonal skills,
  • good ICT skills
  • the ability to relate positively to the people we support
  • work unsupervised as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • a positive outlook on life.
  • the ability to manage potential and actual aggression in a sensitive way
  • remain calm in challenging situations
  • willing and physically able to support people with personal and intimate care needs and able to undertake manual handling tasks.
  • have sound judgement and the ability to resolve problems, emergencies, and issues without access to more senior staff.
  • able to adapt and respond positively to change
  • prioritise tasks and work within time restraints

What you will have

  • NVQ level 2 qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Experience with administering medication
  • At least two years’ experience in a direct support role through either work or life experience.
  • A basic understanding of the legislative and regulatory framework affecting vulnerable adults, including The Care Act (2014) Safeguarding, Liberty Protection Safeguards, Mental Capacity Act, and the regulatory requirements of the CQC (as applicable to the service).
  • Knowledge of risk management and positive risk taking
