We are looking for a Senior Scientist within the QC Microbiology function at our Centre of Excellence for biopharmaceutical process development and small-scale GMP manufacturing in Slough, UK.
The focus of the role will be working effectively within the QC Microbiology, maintaining required timelines with general guidance and support. Whilst conduct Microbiology testing in support of Product Qualifications, Routine Testing and Environmental Monitoring. This will include conducting method qualifications practical work and assay approvals for Endotoxin, Bioburden and Microbial Identifications.
Key responsibilities:
- Testing of samples and reporting of all results according to the relevant procedures in accordance with the expectations of GMP.
- Review and approve results generated by other team members.
- Writing protocols and preparing reports on research projects assigned by the Team Lead
- Be in control of own schedule with general direction from Group Leaders and able to achieve required timelines
- Document results in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
- Critically assess all results and report any comments or concerns to QC management in a timely manner. .
- Lead and assist with laboratory housekeeping, equipment maintenance, inventory of supplies, laboratory cleaning, media and reagent qualifications.
What we need you to have:
- Practical work experience of testing, reviewing, troubleshooting of Endotoxin, Bioburden and Microbial Identification assays.
- Experience raising and completing quality records (deviations, change requests, investigations and CAPA’s).
- Appreciation of cGxP disciplines underpinned by previous experience working in a cGxP environment with experience of updating SOPs and other GxP documentation.
- Bachelors’ degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific area with a strong preference for Microbiology but alternatively in Biochemistry, Chemistry or Biological Sciences
- Experience in a QC role in a biopharmaceutical environment with prior exposure to industry standard DNA-based microbiological testing techniques and method qualifications including bioburden and endotoxin testing of biological products and intermediates and environmental monitoring
- Able to demonstrate strong attention to detail whilst working under pressure
