We are looking to recruit an experienced HR Advisor or HR Business Partner into our friendly and professional HR team. You will be required to manage and coordinate change programmes including restructures, as well as advise on a range of Employee Relations (ER) cases ensuring that all people issues are pro-actively addressed and resolved. Whilst primarily operating at a transactional level on ER cases you will also be expected to strategically partner key stakeholders on the design, delivery and evaluation of people strategies.
This role will require travel across the East Midlands Railway network. You will have a first class duty travel pass on our trains for this, which will allow you to work while on the move. It's a fixed term opportunity to cover maternity leave for a period of 12 months.
As HR Business Partner you will:
- Impact on achieving a high performance culture by challenging and coaching managers to lead engagement, performance and development principles and tools
- Provide HR support for all projects within your area to drive timely execution within budget and strategic plans
- Provide coaching and training to line managers to develop their capability in managing people issues to enable optimum performance from their teams
- Ensure that employee relations cases are managed in a timely, professional, and legally compliant manner in accordance with legislation and business policy
- Attend local union meetings and specific functional councils as required
- Drive the employee engagement scores for your customer base by providing support to the management teams with their action planning and providing appropriate HR interventions where required
- Work with your customer base to drive the accurate completion of performance appraisals with SMART business goals and development plans within the annual performance cycle
- Assist your customers in the completion of robust succession plans and talent maps
- Provide support in the design, development and regulation of specific restructuring initiatives ensuring that any structures are fit for purpose and process compliant
To be successful in this role you should:
- Have experience of supporting in the delivery of restructures and HR change programmes.
- Demonstrate effective administration skills with an excellent eye for detail.
- Understand employment law and have the confidence to apply it in a pragmatic way whilst minimising risk.
- Be a commercially focused and strategically minded HR professional, ideally with experience of dealing with Trade Unions and comprehensive working knowledge of employment legislation practices and methodology
- Experience in advising and coaching managers to resolve a full range of employee relation matters
- Hold a relevant professional CIPD qualification - level 5 or above or have equivalent experience
- Possess excellent communication, coaching, facilitation and influencing skills
- Be able to demonstrate a pragmatic approach and be a natural at building effective working relationships.

EMR has a hybrid working policy which is applicable for this role. This means the role can be based at home when the needs of the business allow and on average this tends to be 2 days per week and on the network 3 days per week. Should you wish to work full time in the office this is also an option.
