Our Innovation team is looking towards the future, we’re exploring new product types, new market possibilities and new technologies to see how the future of the bank might look. We have a team of inquisitive people creating these new ideas, and we’re looking for a number of designers to complement the team. You'll be a design thinker and a design practitioner able to lead a workshop or sketch a storyboard and they’ll also be practiced storytellers able to construct a clear narrative around a new concept.
This is a unique opportunity for a design all-rounder to help define new ways for us to engage and build relationships with our customers by supporting them with the right products, tools, and services. Using design principles, you’ll work with product owners to shape future products and services and create credible experiences.
You'll be building on a core design skill but will be able to step into other roles and do much more. We're keen to hire someone with a talent for delivering outstanding customer outcomes by demonstrating behaviours aligned with our own.

Additionally, you'll have outstanding communication skills and can confidently explain ideas, issues, and implications to senior, technical and non-technical audiences and will have great personal time management skills and can confidently manage others.
Specific responsibilities of the role include:
- Planning design activity to support future innovation initiatives
- Supporting our research team to make sure we're led by colleague, customer and market insight.
- Communicating with and influencing colleagues and customers, including those who come from digital and non-digital backgrounds, to manage expectations and incorporate multiple perspectives.
- Making good design decisions, bringing the user perspective to the forefront and challenging the validity of constraints.
- Sharing knowledge, generating ideas, and embedding design principles across product, service, and customer journeys.
- Experience in a range of research and design methods is essential.
- Understanding competitor analysis, concepting, workshop facilitation, visual design across multiple platforms, prototyping, and sketching.
- Excellent knowledge in interaction design and usability best practice
- Proficient with industry standard design & business tools, such as Adobe CC, Sketch, InVision and Figma.
Preferred skills
An in-depth understanding of Design Thinking practices.
An awareness of behavioural economics and design psychology.
A broad understanding of experimentation approaches and techniques.
