We are seeking a Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Hollybank Manor in a Bank position.
You will be working in our small dementia residential home (9 residents).
Your Role
To deliver personal care and support to residents as specified in residents’ personal care plans.
Ensure that services provided meet organisational standards and uphold the core values of person-centred practice (PCP) in Hollybank Manor.
Duties
- Provide coaching and guidance to the care team and provide cover in the absence of the registered manager.
- To be a competent role model to the team.
- Administrating and recording of medication as and when required.
- Participate in the review; of recording and updating of care plans when required. Confident in contacting family members and Care Managers/ Monitoring Officers when needed in a professional manner.
- Filing relevant paperwork/documents into individual personal files as a key worker in charge of keeping care plans neat, tidy and presentable.
- Act as a key worker and participate in resident review meetings.
- Complete Residents Care Review documentation prior to review.
- Support residents with washing, using the toilet, dressing, undressing, and all other daily aspects of daily living.
- Take part in social activities, support and encourage residents to continue with hobbies and activities outside the home.
- Assist with serving meals and supporting residents who need assistance during meal times.
- Assist in the delivery of care for residents who are at end of life or who have a progressive illness.
- Respond to residents and visitors in a prompt and appropriate manner.
- Carry out daily night checks as part of waking night shift determined by the personal care plans.
- Carry out daily night shift drug audits and accurate records of same.
- Undertake moving and handling of residents and loads using specialist equipment.
- Ensure the home and residents’ rooms are kept clean and tidy including making and changing beds.
- Ensure individual aids and equipment used by residents are maintained e.g hearing aids, spectacles, dentures, etc.
- Support residents travelling to and from the home e.g on social outings, hospital visits, etc.
Essential Criteria:
- 1-year experience in a nursing home or similar environment.
Desirable Criteria:
- 6 months experience as Senior Healthcare Assistant or supervisory capacity.
- Previous experience in the administration of medication.
- Be registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC)

The home is a calm environment that is conducive to well-being and mood enhancement with themed areas throughout the home for therapeutic activity.
