A fantastic opportunity to join the Senior Leadership Team in English Heritage`s Estate Management Department. The successful candidate will lead a multifunctional team and play a central role in the conservation and maintenance of our sites in the South East of England. You would be responsible for the care of places like Dover Castle, Battle Abbey and Osborne House. It is a diverse role working with national heritage experts and taking you to some of England`s most amazing places.
Your week will be varied and include travel between offices and sites working with colleagues from across the organisation and supporting your team to plan projects and deliver our maintenance programmes. You will build rapport with colleagues and partner organisations collaborating on new programmes where you will use your wealth of knowledge and experience to introduce new strategies and cutting edge conservation and maintenance practices and contribute to our continued conservation excellence.
You can be homebased or based at Osborne House or Dover Castle, and you'll be required to travel frequently.
As the Senior Estate Manager for the South East Region you would be responsible for a £4M maintenance programme delivered by your team of ten people working across three maintenance disciplines. Your main objective will be to achieve sustainable conservation status for the sites in your care. You will achieve this through empowering and enabling your team to effectively manage projects and a suite of maintenance contracts achieving agreed levels of presentation, conservation and maintenance.
Alongside this you will be part of the Estate Management Department`s Leadership Team. You will contribute to the development and delivery of national strategy and programmes of improvement to our ways of working. You will be part of a range of national change programmes and responsible for their implementation at a territory level. This opportunity will see you at the front of programmes to re-procure our maintenance contracts, drive actions to improve our sustainability strategy, improve the biodiversity value of our sites, review and replace our CAFM software and increase the capability of each and every team member and build the quality of our leadership.
It`s a diverse role and an exciting time to join English Heritage. Along with your energy, emotional intelligence and passion for English Heritage and our work you will have extensive experience of leading teams who deliver large and diverse work programmes ideally gaining this experience in the heritage or land management sector. You will bring transferable skills necessary to lead and empower people, plan work programmes, manage budgets and effectively work with others doing a variety of roles across a national charity. You will also work with a range of partners from Historic England and Natural England to charities, community groups and funders.
Your approach to work will demonstrate a commitment to our corporate values. You will have experience of managing multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities and have a track record of identifying solutions to these situations. Your people skills will be essential and you will be able to demonstrate how you form strong working to identify priorities and deliver work.
