What we’re looking for
The main focus of the Senior / Electronics Engineer will be to work with the engineering team to design, test and deliver electronics sub-subsystems for chip-based quantum photonic technologies for secure communications.
The role can be offered at a Senior / Electronics Engineer level for those who have worked in a relevant role before this one and have a good level of knowledge and experience or a Senior Electronics Engineer level for those with more extensive experience of working in relevant roles before this one and have a significant level of confidence, knowledge and experience to draw on to allow you to work semi-autonomously.
You will play an integral part in our team and your main responsibilities will be:
- Development, testing, and delivery of analogue and digital electronic hardware solutions for quantum secured communication products (examples include: laser and temperature controllers, multi-channel voltage controllers, current controllers, and photodiode power-meters).
- Design of electronic hardware systems (including PCB schematics, layout, assembly data for external manufacture)
- Testing of electronic hardware systems (analogue and digital functions)
- Development and testing of micro-controller firmware
- Technical documentation detailing the developed systems
The experience you’ll need
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (electrical or electronics engineering or other)
- Experience in design and testing of DC analogue electronics circuits
- Experience in the design and testing of digital electronics (microchip microcontrollers, DACs, ADCs etc)
- Experience in PCB schematic, layout, assembly, and testing
- Experience in E-CAD (Altium, KiCAD, and Proteus are most commonly used in KETS)
- Experience in microcontroller firmware development (preferably C-language based and Microchip microcontrollers) and testing for control of digital and analogue circuitry.
- Experience/Familiarity with communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, USB)
