Job description

At Swindon Borough Council, we want our town to be the best it can be. Our ambitious vision is supported by realistic transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. Because that’s who we’re doing it for – the communities and businesses that make our town great. As part of the Council, you’ll support a friendly local authority making decisions with real impact. It’s all for better public services. Better processes. And a better quality of life, for everyone. Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.

A number of exciting opportunities have arisen for individuals to join our busy and fast-paced Attendance and Inclusion team to support our work on ensuring that all children and young people are attending full time education and we are meeting our safeguarding duties in relation to education. Our team is expanding and so it is an excellent time to join us to be part of the change.

Your next role

At Swindon Borough Council we recognise the importance of attendance and well-being for all our students beginning at the earliest stages of their education through to adulthood. We have redesigned our structure to create an all age attendance and inclusion team and have a number of exciting opportunities available as part of this.

You will be working as part of a supportive and motivated team. You will be ensuring the delivery of all statutory obligations required of the Education Welfare Service are delivered and have Substantial experience of working with Children, Young People and Families.

We are looking for team members with excellent communication and negotiation skills who excel at working with stakeholders such as schools and have a strong sense of commitment to making a difference for children and families and to achieving ‘The best’ for Swindon children.

We can offer you

  • A supportive team and regular supervision with your line manager
  • A chance to learn about the roles of many professionals supporting children and interact with them on a daily basis
  • To feel part of a team that are making a daily difference to the lives of children
  • A receptive and positive learning culture that wants your ideas and contributions to improving and developing service delivery
  • Extended holiday allowance and auto-enrolment into our high performing local government pension scheme.

If you believe you have the skills, experience and enthusiasm to join, help shape this developing team, make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people, then we want to hear from you.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).

Your next package

Please see our Rewards and Benefits offer for more details.

For Swindon to thrive in the future, we need to lay the foundations now. It’s why our regeneration and transformation programmes are already underway. So, you’ll be joining us at an exciting time on our journey. We’ll look to you to share your knowledge, influence decisions and drive real, positive change. With your contributions, we’ll achieve our vision of a prosperous, re-vitalised Swindon by 2030 together. And you’ll be proud to say it was made better with you.
