The Department of Biosciences and Chemistry delivers vocationally-focussed courses in applied biological and chemical sciences. As a community of scientists, we are committed to excellence in teaching and research, driving transformative learning experiences for our students.
We are looking to recruit a Lecturer in healthcare science to teach across our undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, particularly on our employer-led provision and higher degree apprenticeships in Cardiovascular, Respiratory and Sleep Sciences, and biomedical science.
Your teaching role will involve all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment, including preparation, lecturing, tutorials and assessment, as well as teaching of practical or laboratory classes.
Other aspects of the role will include supporting students on placement or in work based learning, supervising undergraduate and postgraduate projects and administrative duties relevant to module delivery.
Your role may also include teaching life science subjects on courses in other areas of the College such as nursing, midwifery and allied health.
You will be an enthusiastic and committed individual, who is able to contribute towards current and future portfolio redesign discussions and create a vibrant, engaging learning experience for our students.
We are especially keen to hear from applicants who:
- can teach respiratory or cardiac science, and physiology-related subjects
- have experience in relevant diagnostic techniques and related instrumentation
- can teach a range of other areas relevant across our healthcare, biomedical and biosciences programme such as practical skills, professional practice and development, or research skills.
We are also keen to hear from you if have professional experience as a scientist in a clinical, biomedical or industrial setting.
Applicants should have a relevant PhD, and/or a relevant professional qualification and/or professional experience as a scientist in the healthcare, biomedical or industrial science sector, including membership of a relevant professional body.
If you have a research background, you will also be expected to contribute to research outcomes in an area aligned to the key research themes of the Biomolecular Sciences Research Centre (BMRC). These will enhance the research centre profile through publication of high-quality research, income generation and/or knowledge transfer activities.
