We are currently looking for a Senior Developer to join our team.

To deliver the change required, we’ve reset the entire Digital Services staffing structure, aligning to the DDaT profession capability framework, ensuring we have modern and fit for purpose job descriptions focusing on the rights skills and abilities.
The role
Reporting to a Lead Product Manager, as a Senior Developer you’ll play a key role in the analysis, design, build, support, implementation and improvement of digital services, products and platforms across the Council.
With an excellent understanding of the end-to-end process from a technical perspective, you will work closely with the Senior and Lead Product Managers, delivering software within multi-disciplinary teams using Agile delivery methodologies, providing digital solutions that meet user needs.
Example responsibilities include:
- Working closely with Product Management to identify and minimise risk within an outcome and help prioritise and evolve a workable technical solution ready for delivery to support product roadmaps.
- Adopt best practices in software engineering: design, testing, version control, documentation, build, deployment, monitoring and operations.
- Build flexible systems choosing simple, straightforward solutions over more complex ones
- Undertake feasibility studies and system evaluations
- Analyse, design, develop, compile and document new digital products, services and platforms that meet our technical and service standards, together with the implementation and amendment of program revisions, as required.
- Define test data for program testing and conduct testing and trial runs of digital products, systems and platforms, correcting errors, as necessary.
- Participate in decisions involving build vs. partner vs. buy decisions on new products / functionality.
- Perform systems analysis, problem identification and programming tasks and carry out fault finding and program performance enhancements; taking an active approach to working down technical debt.
- Ensure that all software you build, maintain and run meets user need.
- Ensure that all software you build, maintain and run passes the GDS service standard, Technical Code of Practice or equivalent peer review.
- Support Third Party Software Packages:-
o provide systems administration and integration with APIs across services
o investigate software and performance issues
o liaise with suppliers
o represent the authority at user group meetings.

Experience and education
Candidates must be educated to HND or possess equivalent occupational experience, and hold a formal qualification in Digital Services e.g. IT Service Management and/or business management e.g. Agile, ITIL, Prince2.
Experience of development with Oracle APEX and/or the Microsoft Power Platform would be beneficial.
