Job Purpose:

As Senior CMF Designer, you will support the Head of CMF and the rest of the design team in developing current and future Aston Martin design programs in varying stages of interior and exterior material development, from early concept ideation through to product launch and beyond into mid cycle impulses. You will be involved / lead material developments as well as exterior and interior material developments – from concept stage creation towards the industrialisation process

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Passionate, positive and creative Senior CMF Designer. An ambassador for AML design and our CMF philosophy across the design department and beyond.
  • A motivated, organised and highly creative team player with great taste and a great level of understanding of luxury automotive Colour and materials design, with excellent creative instincts and the ability to communicate them effectively.
  • Able to perform at both Macro and Micro level within specific programmes or projects – from models’ colour/material strategies, to specific materials or paints developments.
  • Great ability to create visual representations of CMF specs / material applications / deco and patterns using VRED and other graphic programmes from the Adobe Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator).
  • Great level of expertise in the creation of the specific documentation required for material developments (supplier briefs / feedback etc.) as well as the generation of all the CMF documentation required for programme gateway deliverables (including data, interior / exterior callouts, material spreadsheets).
  • Delivering inspiring results within a given gateway/deliverable timeline, on time and to cost targets, with a clear understanding of the impacts of design decisions on the project.
  • The ability to break down and tailor complex design information to present appropriately, clearly and concisely to different audiences within the design department, and with the rest of the stakeholders involved.
  • Understanding and contributing to decisions throughout the product development process, together with the Head of CMF, other key design stakeholders and beyond.
  • Have a great understanding and be always updated on Contemporary and Future Luxury and Performance trends, within and beyond the automotive industry.
  • Collaborate with partners and suppliers (Tier 1 & Tier 2) to deliver world class materials, with potential for international travel to visit suppliers / inspect samples and production processes if necessary.
  • Positive, proactive and respectful team player, contributing to the team spirit and working environment to facilitate effective cross functional collaboration, supporting other team members when required.

Qualification & Experience:

  • +6 Years experience in the field of CMF.
  • Prior experience working in Automotive CMF design is a requirement.
  • Great understanding of the automotive CMF design process with experience working through production delivery phase.
  • Luxury / premium brand experience would be beneficial.
  • Experience on Production Paint development beneficial.
  • Experience with 3D Generative Design (Grasshopper) beneficial as well.
  • Bachelor or master’s degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Transportation Interior Design, Product Design, Industrial Design or similar design related discipline. English language to a professional working level.
  • Ability to use the Microsoft Office Package, PowerPoint.
  • Great / Expert use of VRED, great ability to use Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
