Job description
The post holder will be based in the Climate Change and Health Unit and contribute to the research programme of the Centre for Climate and Health Security (CCHS), by developing the evidence base for the health effects of climate change. The post holder will disseminate findings through the production of a toolkit, which will offer guidance to local authorities in assessing and responding to health impacts of climate change. The post holder will provide support for climate change adaptation policies through feeding into the Climate Change Risk Assessment and the National Adaptation Programme, for example. There may also be opportunity to contribute to other research projects, such as the Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Environmental Change and Health funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) and in collaboration between the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), University College London (UCL), the UK Met Office and UKHSA. In addition, the post holder will also contribute to publishing peer-reviewed articles and reports.
The post holder will represent the Climate Change and Health team as member of various scientific and policy-related working groups with external stakeholders in Government and academia amongst others. They will seek out and develop collaborative working between the Climate Change team and other stakeholders, both within UKHSA and externally.
