About the role:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher who is passionate about education as a means of transforming people’s lives. You will work alongside the senior leadership team and together will shape and develop Ark Evelyn Grace Academy.

Ark Evelyn Grace Academy is a mixed, non-selective, 11-18 secondary school in Lambeth. The Academy opened in 2008 and moved into its award-winning building on Shakespeare Road in 2010. Evelyn Grace Academy was judged as ‘good’ by OFSTED in 2017 and behavior was said to be ‘exceptionally strong’. We believe education is transformational. The Role
- To provide outstanding teaching and learning of Science to secure high attainment of their students
- To collaborate effectively with other members of the department on their journey from good to outstanding
Key responsibilities
- Provide a nurturing classroom and school environment that helps students to develop as learners
- Consistently plan, resource and deliver lessons that allow stimulating and enjoyable learning to take place
- Ensure that all students are given quality feedback in order to make rapid and sustained progress
- Contribute to the development of sound numeracy skills for all students
- Help to maintain/establish excellent standards of behaviour for learning across the Academy
Outcomes and activities
Teaching and Learning
- In discussion with the Head of Department, plan and prepare engaging lessons based on agreed schemes of work
- Teach engaging and effective lessons that motivate, inspire and improve student attainment
- Use regular assessments to monitor progress and set targets and determine appropriate intervention
- Ensure that all students achieve at chronological age level or, if well below level, make significant and continuing progress towards achieving at level
- Maintain regular and productive communication with parents, to report on progress, sanctions and rewards and to relay other relevant information
- Maintain accurate student data that can be used to make teaching more effective
- In conjunction with the Head of Department identify the intervention needs of students and appropriate strategies to improve attainment

- Develop a culture that is committed to high achievement and where the learning of students is our constant focus
- Work with students, staff and parents to promote consistently excellent behaviour for learning and caring, respectful relationships

Qualification Criteria
- Qualified to degree level and above
- Qualified to teach in the UK
Experience
Essential
- Experience of securing high levels of achievement in a complex urban environment
- Evidence of continually improving the teaching and learning of their subject though classroom delivery, schemes of work and extra-curricular activities
- Experience of teaching students of all abilities across key stages
