Merck Summer Student Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for students to join our Merck Contract Testing Services business in the UK for 3 months over the summer. Students will work with Merck teams across different parts of the business, gaining meaningful industry experience.

Summer students will get the opportunity to undertake meaningful work whilst collaborating with Merck colleagues across various departments. The students will learn on the job, developing practical skills and personal competencies, building relationships with colleagues across our business.

Your Role :

The Client Cell Culture team in Glasgow is responsible for preparing samples from client material for use in follow on assays or tests required to characterize product or material safety. As part of this department, you will perform a wide variety of routine tasks in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and relevant compliance regulations to support the team with the performance of custom GMP studies, and ensure lab oratories / equipment are maintained in the validated state. The scope of responsibility includes housekeeping, equipment maintenance, stock control, and assisting Associate Scientists in assay related activities. The ability to communicate well and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues is essential to the success of the role.

Who You Are:

• HND/Degree/MSc Student, or recent graduate in relevant subject looking for work experience
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Effective working as part of a team
• Strong planning and organisational skills
• Self motivated with strong initiative and drive
• Good standard of written and spoken English and are computer literate; previous experience working with Microsoft applications would be advantageous
