Job description

An excellent opportunity to join a market leading service based business within the Harrogate area as a Purchase Ledger Assistant. Salary is up to £25,000 (depending on experience) and the successful candidate will gain access to full training and a development plan, alongside 24 days holiday, hybrid working, a brand new refurbished office and further additional benefits. The Purchase Ledger Assistant will assist and work directly with the Management Accountant and will primarily be responsible for supporting with month end transactional finance and all round finance duties. Working with a fun and friendly, long standing finance team, there is the opportunity for progression in the future with this business.

This is a really exciting, rare opportunity for someone with experience within purchase ledger to secure an end to end role as part of growing, reputable business.

Key responsibilities for the successful Purchase Ledger Assistant will include:

  • Assisting with carrying out bank reconciliations
  • Processing of invoices, dealing with suppliers and carrying out supplier statement reconciliations
  • Ensuring that all entries match up on the in-house system
  • Processing of payments and allocating to the ledger
  • Setting up new accounts in accordance with financial controls
  • Carrying out supplier statement reconciliations
  • Updating and maintaining the in-house system for compliance and audit processes
  • Dealing with both external and internal stakeholders
  • Supporting the wider team with the payment run process

We are keen to speak with candidates who have some previous purchase ledger/accounts payable experience you may already be a Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant looking to progress, or you may be a Purchase Ledger Clerk looking to secure a more varied, all rounded role.

Based in the Harrogate area, this role is easily commutable from surrounding areas such as Horsforth, Otley, Guiseley and all areas of North Leeds and further afield due to hybrid working. The company also has free parking and have great onsite facilities.

To be successful in this Purchase Ledger role you will ideally have/be:

  • Some previous experience of working within transactional finance
  • A positive can do attitude and will be interested in a career within finance
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Hands on in approach and will be happy to help in all areas of accounts when needed
  • Strong attention to detail and will be able to meet multiple deadlines under strict deadlines
  • Computer literate and have experience using MS Excel
