Exams Officer & General Administrative Assistant
- Grade 4: Scale Point 7, £22,369.08 per annum, pro rata
- Term time only + 5 inset days
- 37 hrs per week, Term Time only (6 days to be worked during the school holiday and taken back as time in lieu during term time)
- Permanent Contract - *There is potential for this to be a split role*

We are seeking to appoint an Exams Officer & General Administrative Assistant to work at The Mendip School.
Do you have the drive, passion and commitment to deliver outstanding support? Nat and her Senior Leadership Team are looking to appoint an outstanding Exams Officer and General Administrative Assistant to coordinate and ensure the smooth running of all examinations across the school.
Exam Officer responsibilities include:
· Plan, administrate and coordinate exams: entries, timetables, booking rooms, seating plans, room & resource preparation, exam start times, absenteeism and results
· Keep accurate up to date student data with regards to access arrangements, exam packs & timetables
· Ensure you are aware of the latest changes in exam guidelines
· Checking the correct examination papers & quantities arrive, maintain the safekeeping of exam documents as per guidelines and dispatch of papers on examination days
· Communicate with Awarding Organisations including JCQ, A2C Project, Ofqual, The Standards & Testing Agency and The DfE
· Maintain records and confidentiality of candidate’s responses and track student achievements
As Administration Assistant you will:
· Provide a comprehensive and highly efficient Admin service working independently and/or with other members of the office team and wider school
· Deal with enquiries from parents, students, staff and public; in person, via email & on the phone
· Support the Office Manager with staff HR processes: supply staff/volunteer checks & onboarding, maintaining personnel files, ensuring inductions & probations are completed, training booking requests are made & records kept and maintaining the Single Central Record (SCR)
· Support finance functions by processing monthly credit card statements, fuel card transactions and petty cash, using the ordering and invoicing system. Business insurance, licences and vehicle tax responsibilities and processing student transport payment forms
· Carrying out start & end of day procedures within the school office efficiently and securely
· Covering the Reception desk when required and any other ad hoc tasks as required by the Office Manager or Senior Leadership Team
The successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience and qualities will include:
· Minimum of Grade C in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent)
· Strong IT skills especially in Microsoft Office and effective in data manipulation
· Previous experience of working in a school or an examination environment highly advantageous
· Experience of working with an MIS system preferable although training can be provided
· Be able to deal with competing deadlines, multitasking and have excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills
· Experience of working with Awarding Organisations beneficial although not essential
· Excellent team working skills, calm nature, resilient and a sense of humour. Must love cake and other sweet treats!
