Job description
Are you a regular online seller and bargain hunter? Are you passionate about helping unwanted and ill-treated animals in Cornwall?
We are looking for an online sales assistant to help boost the value we can achieve from donated items received in our charity shops, by selling on eBay, Vinted and other online market-places.
RSPCA Cornwall is an independent charity registered Branch, who own and run the Venton Rehoming Centre near St Columb, from where 100s of unwanted, neglected or abandoned animals are found new homes every year. We receive only minimal financial support from the National RSPCA. The Branch also provide various animal welfare services throughout the County, including cat neutering vouchers, subsidised cat microchipping, together with animal welfare education sessions to schools and youth groups.
Our Charity Shops are a vital source of funding that allows us to continue to help animals in need from Lands End to Launceston, and St Ives to Saltash! All money raised in Cornwall, stays in Cornwall to directly support our work in the County.
This role will be based within our Charity Shop in Truro, from where donations of suitable items for eBay, Vinted etc will be forwarded from our shop network, for online selling. All items need to be assessed for value, photographed, listed and once transactions are completed, suitably packaged and despatched. Full job description and essential skill information is below - please read this carefully to ensure you match the requirements for the post.
This post is brand new to our Branch, so within the scope of the Job Description, the successful candidate will have some input in developing and expanding their role.
Hours will be 37.5 per week, but working pattern may vary according to the Truro Shop opening hours.
Assistance to the Truro Shop Manager to support the volunteer retail team may also be required at times.
Please note:
- This employment is with RSPCA Cornwall Branch, and not the National RSPCA.
- Should we receive sufficient applications, we may close this advert early to evaluate candidates.
- We are only accepting online applications via Indeed, so please do not call at the Animal Centre or the Truro Shop requesting more information about this role.
- As we usually received a high number of applications, we do not always have the resources to respond to every applicant. If you have not been invited to interview within 10 working days of the closing date, please assume you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
