Job description
Full time, 2 x Permanent, 1 x Temporary for 12 months
We are looking for 3 Revenues Officers to join our team within the Revenues & Benefits Service.
Council tax and business rates pay for local services, like schools, libraries, rubbish collection, streetlights, emergency services and much more.
It’s a challenging time to collect these income streams as people and businesses are really struggling through the Cost of Living crisis; demand for council services however continues to increase.
You will be based in either the council tax or the business rates team and will be updating customer records and processing them in accordance with legislation to ensure prompt billing and collection of these local taxes.
You will need exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written and you should be comfortable in dealing with members of the public and businesses alike.
We work in a busy, performance driven environment, so you will be accurately processing high volumes of work to deadlines. It means you will need excellent organisational, numerical and literacy skills.
You may already have a detailed knowledge of local tax administration, but if not, we will provide full training and plenty of support from a great team around you.
This post is based at City Hall, though many of the team work mainly at home.
Please note that this role is subject to an Basic DBS Check.
