Erdos Miller is a core-values driven product company seeking a passionate Mechanical Engineer to design Measurement While Drilling products that delight our customers. Within 90 Days, you can expect to:

• Have a 90-day growth plan developed and tracked with an engineering manager
• Have a strong grasp of one of Erdos Miller’s primary product lines and assist with its production
• Implement planned design improvements to existing tools
• Create and revise Solidworks models, drawings, and assemblies
• Design test fixtures and assist production with assembling those fixtures
• Calculate loading for downhole and surface tools to determine factors of safety
• Document bills of materials and other specifications in the company database
• Use SMath or Excel to create simple calculations using reasonable assumptions
• Present data, designs, and documentation to team members and management
• Research part specifications, material specifications, and other data

Within 12 Months, you can expect to:

• Have a strong grasp of all of Erdos Miller’s major product lines and provide mechanical support for production as well as any ongoing development efforts
• Recommend materials for newly designed parts
• Run linear, static finite element analysis to analyze loading conditions on a part
• Understand drafting and documentation standards
• Write assembly procedures for new and existing tools
• Constantly learn best practices in hardware design for harsh environments
• Write detailed test plans and test reports
• Provide feedback on design improvements based on common modes of failure

Duties and Qualifications:

• Able to design parts, assemblies, and fixtures for downhole drilling equipment based on requirements, without having examples to work from
• Able to think through the assembly, service, and operation mechanical assemblies and design for ease of use in all cases
• Basic drafting ability and knowledge of drafting standards
• Able to perform stress, strain, and fatigue analyses
• Able to work with all manner of hand tools to perform initial and trial assembly of new parts
• Can communicate information clearly verbally, in written form, by sketches, or by using part drawings & assembly drawings
• Able to write useful and clear assembly documentation
• An innate curiosity and the desire to understand the most basic principals at play in a situation that is being designed for
• An ability to thoughtfully organize available data and physical clues to determine root causes of mechanical failures
• Solidworks experience preferred
• Some exposure to MWD design, operation, or maintenance is preferred
