Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a talented Research Technician to join The Centre for Genetics and Genomics (CfGG) Versus Arthritis, based at the University of Manchester.

You will work on a project lead by Professor Stephen Eyre, which aims to link the genetics of JIA to T-cell function in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) using flow cytometry and functional genomics techniques such as single cell RNA-sequencing, with the ultimate goal of building evidence for a clinical trial in JIA.

You will provide technical support, with minimal supervision, in a range of project specific research activities including: the running and troubleshooting of experiments (e.g. isolation of cells from human tissue, cell culture, DNA/RNA extractions, PCR/qPCR, cloning, transfection, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, next generation sequencing library preparation), the maintenance, use and teaching of research associated equipment, to assist team members to keep laboratory stocks at an appropriate level and to assist team members in ensuring that staff and students operate safe working practices, ensuring health and safety compliance within the laboratories.

However, relevant training will be provided. Ability to work flexibly and sometimes out of hours is necessary as samples arrive at different times in the day.
