Bioanalytical Facility Research Technician (24 months fixed term)

Starting salary from £21,197 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £23,144 per annum
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated technician in metabolic bone disease. You will be working in the Bioanalytical Facility (BAF) as part of the Musculoskeletal Science Group supporting clinical research projects at the University of East Anglia and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
You will support the team to provide effective technical support service. To perform general laboratory tasks, handle incoming specimen, data input and record keeping. You will also assist with the preparation of biological samples before analysis, operate and maintain specialist analytical instruments under general supervision.
The BAF is equipped with a chemistry and immunochemistry analyser (Roche COBAS), automated/ semi-automated immunoassay platforms (DiaSorin and Dynex AGiLiTY) and three high-end liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry systems (Waters and Sciex). Experience in chromatographic, spectrophotometric, immunoassay and mass spectrometry techniques are essential.
The post is suitable for someone with prior experience of working in a regulated medical laboratory with a good understanding of Good Clinical/Laboratory Practise and knowledge of safe handling of biological materials and hazardous chemicals. You will have good basic computer skills and practical knowledge in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel software.
This post is available immediately on a full-time basis for a period of 24 months in the first instance with a possibility of renewal thereafter.
